Leveling your Guild in World of Warcraft

Cataclysm, the new development of World of Warcraft, boasts a new feature of guild leveling. Guilds can progress through 25 new levels and for each new level gained, the player receives a perk which helps to improve mount rate, raise currency gain and gain new abilities. Guild rewards are sold by reputable guild vendors and only become available through these new levels, as well as extra rewards for working with associate guild members.

A guild will contain players with a common interest, who are willing to help each other with quests, pvp, instances and end game raiding. Setting up your own guild is simple and can be very rewarding rather than just joining one.

Completion of quests will ensure that you build the reputation of your guild and daily quests will regularly contribute to this reputation and experience. Players can tackle raids together with the other members of the guild once they have joined and if they are in the majority when killing dungeon bosses or raiding bosses, e.g. 4 players for five man dungeons, 8 players in a ten man raid and twenty players for a 25 man raid, then they will each gain experience. These rules apply to battlegrounds too and defeating rated battlegrounds will further increase the experience of the guild.

Guild experience can also be increased by individual accomplishments by its members when they complete guild achievements and can contribute a significant amount of experience to the guild. Utmost level contest and class combinations along with crafting items can be built up within these guild achievements.

However, there is a limit to how much guild experience can be acquired and only the accomplishments of the top twenty highest contributors within the guild will be counted, as this allows smaller guilds to survive and not be completely overpowered by larger guilds.

In guild preparation, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. You need to know exactly what you want from your guild and ensure that you have a variety of classes which will enrich your guild with a variety of skills making it easier for members to help each other, so a guild which contains only priests would not be able to tank as healing is their skill. To secure the sense of team, make sure that you communicate with other guild associates so that they become part of the team and not just part of a list. Once this is established, varying levels of guild events can be scheduled so that all members can participate and benefit.

Inevitably, some members may break the conduct of the guild and you will have to make the difficult decision to remove them from the guild as other members will have certain expectations of you as a guild master. If you don’t meet their expectations, then they may begin to look for a replacement. A guild master’s job is not easy and a lot of time and effort is required to ensure success. Lastly, a unique name for your guild is important as if you have one that is too similar to an existing guild, you may find yourself with a warning.
